Dear Booksin community, volunteers, teachers, staff and friends,

We truly had a reason to celebrate our Walkathon birthday! The $200,000 gift our children received this year will make a positive impact on their future learning. Thanks to all of the wonderful people who opened their hearts, checkbooks and schedules, which allowed us to receive this breathtaking amount of money.

With this being my second, and final time, to chair this important event, I will leave with many wonderful memories of all who have supported Walkathon and Booksin. I thank all of you for your gift to our children. The day would not have been the same without everyone who volunteered and participated!
Thanks so much for coming to the birthday party!

We still have t-shirts available for purchase, in youth sizes Large and XL.
To order, download this form and turn it in to your child’s teacher or in the office.

October 13 — that’s the date to mark on your calendar for a full day of family fun!

It’s so exciting to see all of the new families at Booksin! They will be in for a wonderful surprise on October 13, when they join the rest of us for their first Walkathon. We all know what a great community we have at Booksin, and it especially shines the day of Walkathon. I ask all returning families to reach out to someone new to Booksin and tell them what the excitement is all about. It is our community spirit that transforms into donations of every kind: monetary, in-kind and helping hands. These donations help fund essential school-wide activities that enhance our children’s lives. We need everyone’s support to make this Walkathon another success.

Thank you!

Booksin’s Walkathon will be one of the most interactive school functions that your entire family can participate in together. Here are a few pointers to help your family prepare for the day.

It is a FULL day. Plan to be there all day long. Registration begins at 8:15, walking starts at 9:00 and we don’t stop until 4:00pm. Mileage credits are given to walkers who need to leave temporarily for formal physical activities such as soccer games, lacrosse, karate class, swim team, etc.

Make yourself comfortable. Bring chairs, blankets, pop-up tents, EZ-Ups, etc.. Think of it as your family’s “home base”. This is where your children can find you, relax, snack, eat, and hydrate.

Food is available all day long. There will be plenty of food choices available for purchase the day of Walkathon, including some breakfast items. No need to leave for food.

Keep hydrated. With all of the excitement and activity, keeping hydrated is very important, especially for walking participants. Drinks will also be available for purchase.

Bring money. Money for food, drinks, auction, MarketPlace and other activities all contribute to the success of Walkathon. Cash and checks are preferred methods of payment.
